Filmed on location in The Mar Menor, Spain, this video showcases this fantastic designer’s work for the environment in Malisa Sledmere’s Mediterranean series. These pieces were made during a year long odyssey around this extraordinary sea. Drift plastic was collected from the littoral and then made into floating sculptures onboard the good ship Kealoha, a beautiful vessel with a studio in a cabin. Sculptures were then installed and videoed in various watery locations including rock pools, shallow seas, eelgrass meadows and the base of a volcano where the steep slopes meets the sea. As Andrew Graham Dixon says….” The old distinctions between what is natural and what is artificial have become lazy or just plain meaningless.”
With an original soundscape by Paddy Langton an inventive Oxford based DJ this video is otherworldly at a time when we need to be looking after this one.
